Sold Out

We produced our first Duckhorn Vineyards Merlot in 1978. In the years since, mountain-grown grapes have played an essential role in our Napa Valley Merlot program. Atlas Peak’s temperatures can be as much as 10 degrees cooler than the valley floor, and its high-elevation vineyards are largely above the fog line. This results in long, even ripening that delivers exceptional Merlot vintage after vintage. Our Atlas Peak Merlot displays beautiful concentration with briar berry character alongside wild spice and herb notes.

		Winemaker Notes
This beautifully structured wine captures the depth and sophistication of great mountain-grown Merlot with wild, rustic aromas of blueberry, blackberry, boysenberry, sage, violet and cocoa powder. On the palate, the rich dark-berry flavors are underscored by firm, fine-grained tannins and a streak of enlivening acidity that brings energy and nuance to a long, resonant finish.
		Production
2019 brought another exceptional vintage to Napa Valley, resulting in wines with alluring polish and poise! The season began with a wet winter followed by a mild spring. While this led to a slightly later-than-normal start to the season, ideal summer weather with no significant heat spikes ensured ideal flavor development, yielding complex and vibrant whites, and refined reds with elegant tannins, enticing aromatics and beautiful fruit flavors.
