It Was Never About the Duck

Pick up a bottle of Duckhorn and you’ll find a duck. Most people assume the name came from the bird. It actually began as Duc Horn, a family name Dan Duckhorn’s grandparents carried from Vienna and Budapest, pronounced “Duc-hoern.” Somewhere on the way to America, the spelling changed. For a man who loved the outdoors, the symbol was hiding in plain sight. Watch how a few letters gave us the mark on every bottle we’ve made.
